Pole Building 101 : The Basics
Pole construction is by far the most cost-effective means of erecting a new structure, from unadorned sheds to elaborate custom homes.  Instead of a foundation, poles set into the ground below the frost line at regular intervals carry the weight of the building. KB also implements our own proprietary system called "continuous header" that will give you maximum design flexibility. Depending on the purpose and ultimate level of interior and exterior finish of the building, we'll select one of three different pole building methods, shown here.

3 Styles of Pole Construction

Standard Girt
Standard Girt

Typically used for sheds, ag
storage and cold-storage
buildings, this is the simplest
pole construction type.

Turn Girt

With horizontally set wall sections, this type allows interior finish, insulation, and many exterior
finish options.

Vertical Turn Girt

Wall sections are framed using
2x6 material vertically oriented
between the poles for still more
finish and design choices.
